How We Can Help You Retire
We have designed our introductory process with two goals in mind:
- First, to help you make an informed decision about working with us.
- Second, to give you substantial and helpful guidance on your journey in retirement.
We accomplish the first goal by giving you an opportunity to experience how we can provide value with no obligation on your part. We charge absolutely nothing for you to go through this process with us.
At the end of the process, you will have answers to your most important retirement questions:
- Can you afford to retire?
- Can you lower your taxes, now and throughout your retirement?
- Are your investments appropriate for you?
- How much money can you withdraw from your portfolio and have it last?
After completing this process, we can both decide if it makes sense for us to continue the relationship and move on to our on-going financial planing process.
Step 1 – Introductory Phone Call
This 30-minute phone call will give us an opportunity to meet each other and make sure our skills and processes are a good match for your needs. We best serve people getting ready to retire and retirees.
If we aren’t the right financial planning firm to help you, we will happily point you to the right expert for your unique needs.
Step 2 – In-Person or Virtual Meeting
We will spend a significant portion of this meeting trying to understand your goals and desires. We believe your financial resources are there to provide you with the life you desire. The better we know where you want to go in life, the better job we can do advising you.
Before this meeting, we will ask you to provide us with a few important documents. This information will allow us to begin putting together your initial analysis.
Step 3 – Investment Philosophy and Initial Analysis
At this meeting, we will go through the process of developing your investment philosophy. Your investment philosophy is a critical piece that too many people don’t create when working with a financial planner.
Second, we will review the information and goals you provided us for your plan. We want to make sure your plan is as accurate and customized as possible.
Step 4 – Plan Presentation
We present our analysis of your resources, goals, and investment philosophy to answer your questions:
- Can you afford to retire?
- Can you lower your taxes, now and throughout your retirement?
- Are your investments appropriate for you?
- How much money can you withdraw from your portfolio and have it last?
This meeting is where you will see how we can help guide you throughout your retirement. Financial Planning is a process, not an event. Your Financial Plan is always evolving to keep up with the inevitable changes in life that come your way.
At the end of this meeting, we will ask if you would like to begin working with our firm. Of course, you don’t need to make a decision right then. Our relationship is something we hope will be mutually rewarding and last for decades. We want you to be completely comfortable before you commit to working with us.
Before you decide to work with us, we recommend you think through the following questions:
- Do you like/trust/respect the team at Personal Choice Financial?
- Do the benefits we provide exceed our cost?
- Do you understand our investment philosophy, and does it match yours?
- Do our recommendations make sense to you?
While we would love to work with you, it has to be a good fit for both of us. If you feel the fit is not right for you, we appreciate and respect your decision.
Step 5 – Here We Go!
We will regroup with you to answer any outstanding questions and introduce you to our new client process and our on-going financial planning process.
